About

My swimming journey began in 1985 when my Mum signed me up for swim lessons at our local YMCA. That small splash turned into a lifelong passion — from swim team to synchronized swimming, to lifeguarding and teaching others how to swim.

In 1995, I became a certified lifeguard and swim instructor and returned to teach at the same YMCA where I first learned to swim. But something stood out: I was one of only three Black staff members working in the aquatic department — and most of the students I taught didn’t look like me.

That moment sparked a mission.

I created Live. Love. Swim! with a clear purpose: to make swimming accessible, inclusive, and empowering for everyone — especially Black and Brown communities who have historically been excluded from aquatic spaces. I wanted to show that anyone can learn to swim, regardless of race, culture, age, or ability.

Over the years, I’ve taught across YMCAs, JCCs, and private facilities — but I knew I needed to meet people where they are. That’s when Live. Love. Swim!, LLC became “Your Source for At-Home Swim Lessons.”

Today, I provide personalized private and semi-private lessons for infants, children, and adults — in the U.S. and internationally (UK, China, and Nigeria – places where I still have clients). I also specialize in adaptive swim instruction, working with children and adults with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Down Syndrome

  • Sensory Processing Disorders

  • Physical disabilities

  • Learning differences

Whether it’s building confidence, overcoming fear, or learning for the first time at age 50 or 5 — I’m here to support every step of the journey.

💬 It’s NEVER too late to learn.
Let’s make waves, build confidence, and create space where everyone belongs in the pool.
